"The church is at the very centre of what God is doing with the universe" Ps Tim
What is your reason for going to church??
most of the answers would be;
to grow in my relationship with God...
to be encouraged and challenged to go deeper with him and live a life worthy of God...
to build christian friendships where we can grow together...
You know all these things are true yes, but there is one more that is far more important above the rest of these that my eyes have been so graciously opened too...
in Ephesians 1:9-12 it says
"Gods secret plan has now been revealed to us; It is a plan centered on christ, designed long ago according to his good pleasure. And this is his plan: at the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ- everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because of Christ, we have recieved an inheritance from God...God's purpose was that we who were the first to trust in Christ should praise our glorious God. And now you have also heard the truth..."
God is gathering us. You know church is translated to nothing more than a 'Gathering'. So if Christ is the head of the Church, and we are his body, does this not mean that the Church (Jesus) is the centre of Gods plan?? And that church is for Gods glory and not what we can get out of it?
It also says in John 11:49-52
"...it was a prediction that Jesus' death would be not for Israel only, but for the gathering together of all the children of God scattered around the world"
Jesus died to gather us together under one body with him as the head.
So we see that the church is so important, in fact all the churches are so why are we so seperate in the world?
What if we really focused on God and what he is doing rather than us and what we want in life? imagine what would happen if all the churches focused on what it was they are meant to be focusing on...
I think that end of days would be sooner rather than later...
God let our eyes be open to you and the truth of who you are, for we can so easily be strayed from it, and let us continue to seek out what does not fit into our box of you that we have made...for there lies the truth of who you really are. And God through that, let our wrong perceptions of you be torn down.
seeking you: daily.
